Beaches
Salvador has 50 km of beautiful beaches. A trip by the coast of the city is indispensable for those who come to the capital. Don’t forget to visit:
- Porto da Barra
With calm waters, attracts visitors daily. In the weeds, due to the easy access, it is full of swimmers;
- Farol da Barra
Protected by reefs, has a calm sea and natural swimming pools surrounded by stones are formed at low tide. The visitor can rely upon an excellent infrastructure and can rent chairs and sunshades;
- Ondina
With a sporting courts complex and swimming pools sculptured in the rocks, the beach can be an excellent leisure option for all ages. It is the suburb where the official residence of the governor is located (Ondina Palace), the zoo and good restaurants;
- Pituba
Beach with many rocks in the yellow sand. Situated in the most populous suburb of Salvador, Pituba, it receives a large number of swimmers at weekends. It has an enormous variety of restaurants and bars;
- Pituaçu
Has a calm stretch of the sea, protected by reefs, and a large extension of sand, excellent for walks. As well as this, there are installed stands with a good infrastructure through the whole stretch. Typical snacks and varied drinks are sold to the swimmers daily;
- Artistas/Boca do Rio
Hangout of bohemians, musicians, poets and intellectuals, the beach has beautiful palm trees and good poly-sports courts. Dozens of bars and restaurants comprise the infrastructure;
- Itapuã
An exuberant scene that inspired Dorival Caymmi and Vinícius de Morais to make Itapuã beach known nationally. It has calm waves and a sea protected by reefs. A fishing colony is installed at the location, which molds the scene with small boats and rafts;
- Stella Mares
Has calm stretches with the formation of natural swimming pools and stretches or more agitated seas. It is the preferred spot of the young public, mainly at weekends.
