CLIMATE AND CLOTHES
Salvador is a tropical city - located betwenn the Capricorn tropic and the Equator line - having an average temperature of 25°C (76°F) with a warm and wet climate. This climate in Salvador demands simple and comfortable clothes. On the other hand, many churches and Candomblé yards don't allow the entrance of visitors wearing shorts.
CREDIT CARDS
The main companies are largely accepted in Salvador and all around Brazil.
ELETRICITY
The voltage in Salvador is 110 volts. If necessary, most of the hotels may offer voltage transformers for the visitors usage of equipaments in other voltages.
BANK / CURRENCY
The official currency is the Real. The bills are: R$1,00; R$2,00; R$5,00; R$10,00; R$20,00; R$50,00; R$100,00. The coins are: 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 cents and R$1,00.
BANK HOURS
Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM.
COMMERCIAL HOURS
The commercial hours is from 08:00 AM to 06:00 PM (working days), closed on the weekends. Shopping Centers open normally, everyday, untill 10:00 PM.
HOTELS
Salvador has a hotel network, with more than 30 thousand beds, diversified with high class hotels and of all categories. With the expansion of the tourism sector in the last thirty years, investments in hotels and resorts in the city have made the hotel park of Salvador into one of the newest, most moderns and well equipped in the country.
AIRPORT
The modern passenger terminal installations make Salvador International Airport – Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães, which today has the third largest Brazilian airport infrastructure, it is one of the most attractive and charming postcards of Brazil.
AIR NETWORK
Around 80 regular flights leave from the Salvador International airport daily to all the capitals of the country and major Brazilian cities, as well as around 47 weekly international flights coming from South and North America, Europe, with up to 300 seat aircraft.
