Letter from the President

The city of Salvador, between 16 and Nov. 20, 2008, expects the professionals engaged in the management of technology in health, in particular, the biomedical engineers, clinical engineers, managers Hospital, but Secretaries of Health of Brazil and all the companies that produce and market products for health to participate in the XXI Brazilian Congress of Biomedical Engineering, the IV Brazilian Congress of Clinical Engineering, and the VI Forum of Technology Applied to Health

The scenario is that we are preparing the background to the tasty capital of Bahia, with its natural beauty, historical and cultural as well as a hospitable and happy people. At center stage, a Congress full of technological and structural innovations.

In the past few years has unquestionably been the growth of Biomedical Engineering, and related area, in Brazil, and our Congress have been important piece of support for the development of this branch of engineering in the country, aiming at reducing the technological dependence and our inclusion as a permanent health professionals.

In previous Congresses had the opportunity to find ourselves for the exchange of information, discussion of controversial issues and deepening of knowledge about the issues that embasam the research, production, management and disposal of biomedical technologies. Professionals and scholars of many different formations interacted with experts from Brazil and abroad, searching the new scientific achievements and technological paradigms, ethical, marketing and educational force in our field, featuring such events as a tool for personal interaction and professional improvement.

This year, besides the traditional activities of the Brazilian Congress of Biomedical Engineering and Clinical Engineering, hold other parallel activities. For the first time the Forum for Technology Applied to Health will issue specific with the public management of medical equipment. We will use the event to promote partnerships between business and institutions, universities and enterprises in the area of Ideas Café. At the time, the Government of the State of Bahia use the presence of an audience as diverse opportunities to show that the state provides for the establishment of companies in our territory. Over the 5 days of Congress, also hold the Equipment and Materials Fair for Health, opened for public visitation.

We hope to see them in Salvador, Bahia actively participating in our event and all of a schedule that will bring the most varied subjects, renowned specialists for a healthy multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary debate on the central theme ldquoEngenharia Biomedical Engineering at the Saúderdquo, and offers an opportunity to do business and meet friends.
